Yiyun Li grew up in Beijing.
Her first book, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award and was shortlisted for the Orange Award for New Writers.
Her story ‘Immortality’ won the Paris Review’s Plimpton Prize for first fiction, and her work has been published in Prospect, The New Yorker and the Paris Review.
